Truck Shop Mechanic

Job Summary:

The Truck Shop Mechanic will perform repair work and maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment in our shop.
The work will be mostly hydraulic related, but can include some other repairs including welding, fabricating and maintenance to the piece of equipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with specialized hydraulic diagnostic equipment.

· Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical functions; ensures that all critical parts are examined.

· Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil/filter changes, greasing of the system, etc.

· Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as PTO’s, hydraulic hoses, hydraulic cylinders, hydraulic valves, and other mechanical or electrical parts on the equipment.

· Performs further tests, which may include operating the equipment to ensure repairs are completed correctly.

· Keep their workspace clean and always organized.

· Follow our employee handbook with regards to working in a safe manner.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Excellent mechanical repair skills.

· Proactive analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to visually diagnose mechanical/hydraulic/electrical issues.

· Proficient with computer skills

· Ability to read service and repair manuals.

· Ability to perform repairs in a timely fashion.

· Maintain a clean and safe work environment

· Works well in a team

· Experienced in Forklift operation.

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Three-to-five-year experience as a truck mechanic or related field.

Requirements:

· Must have a complete set of professional hand tools.

· Flexible Schedule

· Reliable transportation to and from work

 

Physical Requirements:

· Must be physically fit.

· Ability to lift 50 pounds.

· Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.

Job Type: Full-time
